Laveen Karate

Since 2019, Laveen Karate has provided quality, traditional, and affordable karate instruction to our Laveen Community. 

Laveen Karate teaches traditional Okinawan karate to ages 4 - adult for life preservation, fitness, and discipline. For us, karate is a lifelong journey filled with community and self-development. We hope our dojo is a place that students will always feel comfortable in and always return to. 

Laveen Dance, Laveen Karate, and Laveen Yoga are part of Laveen Fitness, LLC.  We Love Laveen!

Sensei Marcel Dulaney has been teaching karate for over 18 years. He is a Godan (5th degree black belt) in Matsubayashi Ryu Shorin Ryu, a traditional style of Okinawan karatedo, designed for life preservation.  His training extends well over 30 years, from Sensei Dave Cloud in St. Louis and Sensei Don Caponigro in Florida. He is a member of Shorin Ryu Karatedo International. 

Sensei Marcel specializes in practical application of karate and uses his experience as a police officer in his teaching.

Sensei Claudine Dulaney was first introduced to Matsubayashi Ryu karate in 2001 under Sensei Dave Cloud and continued under Sensei Marcel Dulaney.  She is a Shodan (1st degree black belt).

Sensei Claudine teaches Karate and Law Studies full time at Heritage Academy Laveen as well as teaching RyuKyu and Kids Classes at Laveen Karate.

We host two in-school tournaments per year.  We expect all of our students to participate.  Although the focus of Laveen Karate is self-defense and not point sparring/sport karate, we believe that tournaments provide a wonderful opportunity for students to practice sportsmanship, gain confidence and challenge themselves.
